Counseling and Therapy

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
George Bernard Shaw

Feeling sad? Anxious? Stuck? Lost? Going through a rocky patch in your relationship? Struggling with change, whether seemingly small or overwhelmingly large? At the beginning of your life’s journey, or making a mid-course correction? No matter what you challenge you’re facing, you don’t have to suffer alone. Therapy helps with all of these, and more.

We are all, constantly, changing. We grow, we learn, we experience joy and sorrow. Every experience makes us new again. But sometimes change, even for the better, is uncomfortable. Regrets about the past, and worries about the future, can be crippling as we attempt to find love, success and happiness, leading to depression, anxiety, and more. We want someone to help us sort through the confusion and distress. Someone to help you see the patterns in your life, what they mean, and how to respond to them. In this way, you can reduce your anxiety, increase your sense of ease…in short, you can become happier and healthier. Instead of your life being dominated by worry and sadness, therapy can help you find hope, peace, and joy. We will work together to create a safe place for you to explore your thoughts and feelings.

I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (license #95721) with offices in Toluca Lake, California. I think I’m a great listener: warm, welcoming, nonjudgmental. I offer my insight to help you find the solutions you need, but I know that you are the expert on your life: you know what you need, what you want, and what challenges you face. Following your lead, I use whatever approaches and tools seem appropriate to your situation and needs. It doesn’t matter much to me why something works, so long as it helps you feel better.

Anxiety, Depression, and other Challenges

Many of my clients have come to me suffering from depression or anxiety. Some have come to me for help with their relationships with family, friends, or lovers. Others are struggling with their working life: “What job do I want?” Some want help dealing with a great loss. And some simply to learn to live a happier, more joyful, more meaningful life. I have personal experience with many of these same issues, and understand how difficult they are to live with, and how much courage it takes to ask for help. Whatever you’re looking for, I encourage you to contact me so we can get started improving your life.

Some of the people I’ve worked with include:

  • Young adults, particularly those pursuing creative careers (here in L.A., that likely means acting, writing, music), People who are working to define themselves, to find a place in the world.
  • Men and Women in mid-life, no longer young, but not yet old, and encountering the transitional life issues common to that life stage: empty nest, “mid-life crisis,” a search for meaning, and a desire to establish a legacy.
  • Couples, working to save, or just to improve, their relationship.

You may be looking for help with similar challenges. Or you may be wrestling with other issues. Either way, I can help you become a better version of yourself.
